More to this mixer than meets the eye

Despite his snowballing popularity, some doubted whether well-connected, London-born New York DJ/producer Mark Ronson could cut it as a bona fide artist. Featuring contributions from Amy Winehouse and Robbie Williams, his latest album, Version, showed he is more than a jumped-up remixer.
At last night's superb show, Ronson and a host of guests showed that he has also conquered the great hurdle that faces all studio-based musicians: translating his music into a live context.
As he showed off his guitar skills in an exhilarating workout based on Apache by The Shadows, he was backed up by a cohesive 10-piece band who felt like genuine collaborators rather than session musicians and included a powerful brass section who recreated the album's classic Stax/Motown-style sound with vigour.
Long-time cohort Daniel Merriweather brought a strong stage presence and impressive falsetto to a funked-up version of Britney Spears's Toxic, helped out by rapper Wale, a combination that had the sold-out crowd screaming.
Always in the thick of things, but confident enough to let his guests take centre stage, he introduced dreadlocked singer Taniah, who performed Oh My God and stole the show as she took Winehouse's place to belt out an uplifting version of the Zutons' Valerie.
If this show was anything to go by, Ronson's profile will go through the roof at this summer's festival circuit.

I also saw Mark yesterday- it was an amazing concert- both him and his band are very talented and it is easy to see they really love what they are doing. Like he said it is very rare to see people dancing in the balconies - I was one of those people! When they were given out talent Mark Ronson was definately at the front of the queue!

Totally loved last night. One spectacularly great performance by a group of some of the most talented musicians I have ever seen.
Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip must get some credit for a blinding warm up as well.
