This is a satisfying and intelligently conceived production. It’s fluent, very funny and at times dazzlingly well-acted

Who knew Kim Cattrall was such a sensational stage actress? And Matthew Macfadyen doesn't seem to be able to put a foot wrong

Bright young things: new rave kids New Young Pony Club
Diesel, the fashion label, is 30 years old and to celebrate it is throwing 18 parties at the same time, in 18 different cities from Helsinki to São Paolo, Tel Aviv to Tokyo.
It may be a little easier to get to Paris or Amsterdam than to reach Matter, the vast new club at the O2 centre — but the line-up for the London leg is diverse and appealing enough to tempt you to trek towards the Greenwich peninsula.
Once there, you will find man of the moment Mark Ronson, grime rapper Lethal Bizzle, space rockers The Mystery Jets, new rave kids New Young Pony Club, nouveau romantic Patrick Wolf, art-rock prankster These New Puritans, indie rockers The View — and that’s not the half of it.
The idea of the night, billed as a “creative experiment”, is that musicians of all stripes will collaborate with each other. So MC Dynamite, for example, might chuck out some rhymes over a song by Supergrass, while rockabilly kids Kitty Daisy and Lewis might invite electro DJs the Filthy Dukes to do the twist. That sort of thing. The organisers are calling it a “musical relay” — let’s hope nobody drops the baton.
If the filthily hilarious viral video made to promote the event is anything to go by, it will be rather fun (see it at www.vbs.tv).
Astonishingly, tickets to the party are a mere £5, with all proceeds going to the youth initiative, Livity (www.livity.org) — the cheapest way you’ll get to experience Matter’s vibrating dance floor. Beat that, Zurich.
9pm-3am, Matter at The O2, SE10. There is a limited supply of tickets available in person today at Diesel Covent Garden.Information: www.diesel.com/xxx/london
