Chris Brown lets screaming girls down

Chris Brown
Hit with the ladies: Chris Brown

By André Paine
5 Jan 2009

The piercing screams suggested Chris Brown was capable of distracting his largely female audience from thoughts of their potential nightmare journey home, due to Jubilee line engineering works. Whatever the 19-year-old American’s appeal, though, this was an unsatisfactory experience.

It began with Brown descending from the ceiling in a mask, which he then removed as a firework went off somewhere on his well-developed body. It was all a bit pointless, though — we’d already seen him winched up before the music started.
There was no band, just dancers, drummers and a DJ. When some fans were corralled on stage to dance to Nirvana, they sensibly declined.

Brown often stopped singing, preferring to gyrate to his records. His girlfriend Rihanna appeared during Umbrella but only bothered to sing along to about a third of it. It was hard not to feel cheated.

Brown earned more hysteria when he ripped off his vest during the robotic R&B of Take You Down. “I don’t really care too much about what the newspapers and critics say, I care about the fans,” he explained.

But surely those screaming girls deserve better than this.

Yeah I also went to the 'concert' and thought it was rubbish..and I'm 21.

He barely sung live -even in the slow songs where he wasn't moving all over the place-, all he did was dance and go on about how he didn't care what the newspapers and critics said...because he knew he'd get bad reviews.

His DJ guy also played soooo many songs that weren't his, just for filler. There was so much filler in his show. It was terrible.

Seriously, you 13 and 14 year olds deserve better. Get some better taste in music, jeez!!

i went to the concert and it was amazing!!!
so people do not isten to what the reviewer is talking about
i dont understand why the london paper would send sum1 hu has no clue about rnb music
why does he need a live band?? is he a rock group
a live band isnt really an important essence in a conert
he dance, sang && entertained the crowd all at once!! what more can u ask for people!!
im sorry where we even at the same concert??? i dont seem to know the one your commenting on

i didn't even go to that concert but i am going on the 11th , i doubt he was bad because it's CHRIS BROWN !! and secondly, the person who actually reviewed, you most probably dont tend to go for rnb, thirdly girls like chris brown, and he is absolutly right about not caring about the critics, because everyone has a different opinion, and he does concerts for his FANS, not for people to judge his actions and if that is what his fans like then you should expect it.

I must admit i was very unimpressed with the tube lines and bus services before i got to the O2 and was not sur what to expect from Chris Brown in concert. But i was definately not disappointed his energy throughout the performance was second to none.

There was no need for more of a live band and the dancers were very good entertainers and every act has them in respect to the critic. And you now wander why Chris Brown actually said in the concert he doesn't care about the critics because they write stuff like this when it is very inaccurate and im not alone in thinking this as the comment above feels the same.

Whatever your not a fan full stop, the fans enjoyed his show.
You didn't like the show because it's not your kind og music, I bet you would give a rock concert 5 stars, A CB concert doesn't appeal to the over 30's
Which is so obviously your a middle age person, who doesn't know how to enjoy themself at a concert without complaing about how bad the artist performed, I bet you would never be brave enough to perform in front of thousands
