Bat for Lashes get wet, wet, wet

A concert that will live long in the memory, albeit for reasons metrological rather than musical. Natasha “Bat For Lashes” Khan and her band, which included one-time solo prospect Ben Christophers and impossibly glamorous erstwhile Ash maiden Charlotte Hatherley, were in fine fettle, but, oh, how it rained. There was thunder, there was lightning (very, very frightening) and there was a sheeting downpour which turned Somerset House, an ice skating rink in winter, into a paddling pool of squelching misery.
Even Khan twisted the knife: “I’m sorry it’s raining,” she giggled from the cosy dryness of the stage, “but never mind, let’s smile and be happy.” She looked rather taken aback at the volley of abuse she received in response.
Yet the evening was not a complete washout. Whether shaking her maracas or her tambourine, playing harpsichord or piano or prowling around stage like a restless panther, Khan was an exhilarating, mesmeric presence. She was relentless and boggle-eyed on Pearl’s Dream, pensive on Tahiti and curiously sensual on Siren Song, immeasurably enhanced by a string section.
Hallelujah, the Biblical deluge slowed for the encore demanded by the brave but drenched souls who had remained. Alas, the highlight, a thrilling, timpani-heavy Two Planets, turned out to be a rain dance and the moment the band bid farewell after a pulsating Daniel, the heavens re‑opened. Wet, wet, wet.

Prescilla was the real highlight for me - the rain had stopped, the umbrellas came down and we could actually SEE the stage, and it was magical.
The music was wonderful, and she really does have a stunning voice, but ruined by all the umbrellas blocking the view. C'mon guys, bring a waterproof jacket next time!
