An awesome and ridiculous film that leaves you thrilled beyond the point of your natural endurance

Theatre
The show has suddenly become quite wonderful, and the galvanising factor is the terrific stage debut of Melanie C
Blood Brothers
Music
The British pop music industry may be eating itself but if Muse are the pick of what it can offer the world in 2010 then British music is in rude health indeed
Muse
I was smitten by both Gilberts enormous luxuriant moustache and the intelligence and nuance of this highly entertaining play
I totally recommend Babbo to anyone who is looking for really good and traditional Italian food
Always been a fan but never seen them live. I was ecstatic to be part of this epic event. WOW!

Trouper extraordinaire: Beverley Knight giving 100% to her fans at the ICA
Handicapped by hailing from Wolverhampton rather than Washington and by never quite managing to acquire the fistful of classic songs that would have pushed her to household name status, instead Beverley Knight MBE has had to settle for 15 years as Britain’s premier soulstress.
Lesser lights would have long been dimmed at the frustration of failing to make the final breakthrough but Knight is a trouper extraordinaire and at last night’s low key show (she’ll sell out the Royal Albert Hall next April) to mark the release of her sixth album, 100%, she was in the form of her career.
She may be down to earth (“Hot in here, innit?”) and more eager to please than an about-to-be-fed puppy (“I want you to love this,” she pleaded before the new In Your Shoes) but she was a high-kicking, finger-pointing, charisma-oozing, hand-clapping ball of sex-tinged energy, whether she was almost literally punching out the most exhilarating version of the hoary old Piece Of My Heart I’ve encountered; her own meaty manifesto Soul Survivor or the anthemic Beautiful Night.
And when her supertight band left her and her keyboardist to emote through the stately Gold and Bare, she was a more believable, less sterile Whitney Houston.
A tepid version of The Bee Gees’ ever-naff Too Much Heaven was the only misstep but the closing Come As You Are (not the Nirvana one) left a rabid crowd uplifted, cleansed and wondering if we’ve been rather taking Beverley Knight for granted all these years.

I have seen Beverley many times over the years and this was one of the best gigs I have seen. The intimate venue helped a lot as she is an intimate artist sharing her emotions with the audience. As she says she has always given 100%. The songs from the new album 100% went down well. My fav being Soul Surrvivor which as she says sums up her career. She now has her own label Hurricane and I wish every success. I also hope she gets the MOBO award she richly deserves. The person I went with had never seen Beverley before and she was blown away. Live Beverley is unsurpassable. I love her music, her intimacy, her warmth and her emotion. Special mention for her band who were excellent as always.
