21/7 terrorist's fiancée jailed for aiding his burkha escape

The fiancÈe of one of the 21/7 attempted suicide bombers was today jailed for three years after she helped him flee London in a burkha.

Fardosa Abdullahi, then only 17, also lent Yassin Omar her handbag and accompanied him to Golders Green coach station, where he got a bus to Birmingham wearing the head-to-toe garment.

Omar, then 24, tried to blow up a Tube train at Warren Street station in July 2005 but his bomb failed. He then fled the capital but was later arrested in Birmingham.

Abdullahi, now 20, from Finchley, admitted assisting an offender at the Old Bailey.

She also told a series of lies to police and let Omar borrow her mobile phone to avoid detection.
