£245,000 Lottery boost for Museum of Childhood

The archives of the toy manufacturers who made Corgi cars, the Spacehopper and Action Man are to be preserved for future generations.

The Museum of Childhood, run by the Victoria and Albert Museum in Bethnal Green, has won a £244,500 Heritage Lottery Fund grant to preserve the collections of the famous companies.

Catherine Howell, from the V&A Museum of Childhood, said: "The museum is a gem in the heart of east London and to have the chance, through the HLF, to preserve the historical records of some of the most famous toys."

The firms whose histories will now be documented are Abbatt Toys, Lines Bros, Palitoy and Mettoy.
