300 homes at £100m hospital conversion

More than 300 homes are to be created in the former Roehampton Hospital's original building and its extensive grounds.
Prices at the St Mary's Place development will range from £350,000 for a two-bedroom flat to more than £2 million for a penthouse or house with a private garden.
Patients treated in the old hospital included victims of the 7 July attacks, such as Danny Biddle, who lost both legs in the blasts.
He recovered in the Douglas Bader unit, named after the Battle of Britain pilot who flew in the Second World War despite having had his legs amputated. The fighter ace learned to walk again at the hospital.
Ali Ismaeel Abbas, who became a symbol of the civilian cost of the Iraq war when he lost both arms after his Baghdad home was bombed, was also treated at the hospital.
The main feature of the 14-acre development is Roehampton House, an 18th century building that is Grade I-listed. It was built by Thomas Archer for the surveyor Thomas Carey in 1710.
In 1915 it became a hospital and centre for the manufacturing and fitting of artificial limbs for the thousands of men wounded in the First World War.
The development will closely mirror the original rooms and corridors with as little structural change as possible.
Developer St James Homes described the work as " sensitively designed to empathise with the development's timeless heritage and architecture".
The central part of the development will be St Mary's Square, comprising 132 apartments and penthouses.
These will have views of the central courtyard area, the surrounding gardens and nearby Roehampton House.
Properties in St Mary's Square will be the first to be put on the market with a public launch on Thursday next week.
The development is set in nearly 14 acres of gardens, some of which will be landscaped in contemporary style and other parts in 19th century style.
A pool and recreational areas for residents will be built in addition to private gardens.
