£35m lottery winner has not claimed prize

The winner of Britain's largest lottery jackpot - a massive prize of £35.4million - had still not claimed it.

Lottery operator Camelot said the single lucky person could be on holiday and still be unaware of their good fortune.

Friday's EuroMillions draw saw the numbers 23, 40, 42, 43 and 49, and lucky star numbers 2 and 6, come up.

The mystery winner has 180 days to claim their fortune.

A Camelot spokesman said: "It's very exciting - someone out there is sitting on a fortune. It is the largest jackpot ever won by a British person.

"But it's not unusual for people to not check their tickets until the next day, so the person may not be aware of it yet."

The UK's first - and previous biggest - EuroMillions jackpot win was by Marion Richardson from Gateshead, who won £16.7million in April 2004.

The biggest EuroMillions jackpot to date was £77million, won by mother-of-six Dolores McNamara, from Limerick, Ireland, in July 2005.

EuroMillions is played in the UK, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Portugal, France, Luxembourg, Spain and Switzerland. Tickets sold in the UK raise money for good causes in the UK.
