A-grade student, 16, runs away to be with 46-year-old grandfather

An A-grade schoolgirl has run away to be with a grandfather three times her age, it emerged today. Lisa Wright of Dagenham vanished three weeks ago on her way to school.

The 16-year-old has since contacted her family and admitted sleeping with 46-yearold Nigel Trowbridge, grandfather of her sister's child. Mr Trowbridge's 20-year-old son Glyn recently had a baby with Jemma, 19. It was when he was visiting his new granddaughter that he is believed to have begun his relationship with Lisa. Lisa's mother Angela, 45, who went to school with Mr Trowbridge, said: "She is a shy girl. She has never defied me before. She seems obsessed with him, completely infatuated. I've tried to explain she should not be with him because he's 30 years older than her but she says she loves him and is prepared to lose everything."

The mother-of-three said her daughter had admitted she had slept with Mr Trowbridge, who has five children and two grandchildren.

Lisa, who was due to sit her GCSEs this week, began skipping classes weeks ago. She had planned to study psychology at university.

Her sister said: "She is clever and got all As and A*s in her mock exams."
