But whether he will seize the chance he has been given in Afghanistan - and the boost it will undoubtedly give to his popularity - or squander it in yet another drinking den is yet to be seen.

On-off: Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy are said to be eager to work on their relationship when he returns from Afghanistan
The couple broke up shortly before the prince left for war, with Zimbabwean-born Chelsy blaming the split on his lack of support during her move to Leeds as a post-graduate student.
Although the prince did not mention the 22-year-old during his interviews, the Mail can reveal that the couple are back in contact and are looking forward to working on their relationship when Harry returns.
Things are not likely to be easy, however.
Rumours have been circulating for weeks that Chelsy has became close to another man, something Harry's advisers have been desperate to keep from him.
