Standard Sport can reveal that the Gunners will find out this week if they have made the shortlist to host the prestigious fixture.

It is understood that seven other European venues have submitted bids to UEFA, including Dublin's Landsdowne Road, which is undergoing refurbishment, as well as stadiums in Germany, Portugal and Spain and three from Eastern Europe.

If Arsenal's bid is shortlisted, Emirates Stadium will host a UEFA delegation before the end of this year as part of their venue assessment.

A recommendation will then be made to UEFA's executive committee, who will make a final decision by the end of March next year.

This will be based on a number of criteria, including capacity, seat access, facilities, transport links and hotel availability.

Crucially, Arsenal have the support of Ken Livingstone. The Mayor has pledged more than £100,000 to support their bid, which also has the backing of the Football Association.
