They can already sing and dance, paint and play musical instruments. But now elephants in Thailand are getting some elementary education - in toilet training.
The jumbos are being taught to sit and wait on stone potties before flushing a cord with their trunks.
The waste can be used for methane. Owners of Palaad Tawanron elephant camp in Chiang Mai plan to feature the act in a show for tourists.
'Perhaps we can also get them to read the morning papers,' said a spokesman.
