An aspiring TV presenter has landed a job on BBC2 after videos of her were posted on internet site YouTube.

Susi Weaser's gadget reviews proved an instant hit on the site, which offers people a chance to have their home movie footage seen by millions.

They were also seen by TV executives who quickly offered the 24-year-old a regular slot on the Sunday morning entertainment and cookery show, Something For The Weekend.

Miss Weaser, who used to work in public relations, could barely believe her hobby had transformed itself into a new career. She said: "I still don't really believe it sometimes.

"Six months ago I was sitting behind a desk, getting in at eight and leaving at eight and now I'm on television.

"I feel guilty because I have friends that are working really hard to get into television or acting and I'm just sitting here having not done anything more than enjoy playing with gadgets.

"My parents are absolutely thrilled. I think they've told everyone I've ever met and made sure they watch it."

Miss Weaser, from Tufnell Park, began testing gadgets for the blogging website Shiny Media, which posted the one-minute video clips on YouTube. The films included her demonstrating mobile phones, laptops, a GPS and even a Cyberman head.

In September, they were spotted by producers from TV company Princess Productions, which had been commissioned to make the new programme for BBC2.

After a phone call and a quick screen test, Ms Weaser had the job. Mike Worsley of Princess Productions said: "She's a natural and is very interactive with an audience."

Something For The Weekend is hosted by Tim Lovejoy and centres around cooking and interviews.

Miss Weaver researches gadgetsand selects one or two to demonstrate. She said: "It's all surreal. I turn up on a Sunday morning and have a cup of tea and then get my make-up done, which is lovely.

"Then I wait in the green room with whoever's appearing on the show, which is very weird. So far we've had Mel C and Ralph Little and we're all sitting there just having a cup of coffee and a chat.

"I do get a bit nervous in front of the camera as it's going out live but I just try to pretend it's another rehearsal.

"Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't."
