Heather Mills: fears for safety after death threats
Heather Mills has told how she has received threats since her split from Sir Paul McCartney.
The 38-year-old, mother to the couple's daughter Beatrice, three, said she feared for their safety and, in an apparent dig at the former Beatle, added that she did not have enough money to pay for protection.
"We've had a few death threats, which is pretty scary especially considering we have no security. We don't have any funding for that sort of protection," she told the BBC.
She said her personal trainer, Ben Amigoni, whom she denied being romantically involved with, was acting as her bodyguard.
After Miss Mills and the musician separated, it emerged he had frozen their joint bank account after allegedly discovering his estranged wife had withdrawn around £1 million in one month.
Her latest comments came during a trip to the European Parliament in Brussels to deliver a petition backing calls to stop cat and dog fur being imported into the EU.
She said she had been more distraught in the months since the breakdown of her four-year marriage than she was when she lost her leg.
"I've felt severely upset and severely depressed through these six months, but when I lost my leg I didn't," she claimed.
Miss Mills went on to say that as Sir Paul's wife she was 'not allowed' to get involved with music, photography or fashion. Sir Paul's late wife Linda was a photographer and his daughter Stella is a fashion designer.
Asked why she was banned from doing those things she would only reply: "Because I was told 'if you do, it will look like this and it will look like that."
She added: "Once I was sent a video of cats and dogs being skinned alive and I didn't get involved with animals so I wouldn't step on anyone's toes."
However the former model refused to say who had told her not to get involved in such activities. "I'm not going to go into that, but that's how it was. Now I'm free to do what I wish."
In an interview with America's Extra TV show a few weeks ago Miss Mills told how she had received so much public support since her split from her 64-year-old husband that people would come up and hug her in the street.
The Daily Mail revealed in October how Miss Mills was accusing Sir Paul of attacking her in explosive court papers.
She claimed that he stabbed her in the arm with a broken wine glass, pushed her over a coffee table and shoved her into a bath while she was pregnant. She also said the musician continued to use illegal drugs and to drink excessively while they were together.
He has flatly denied all her claims and has said he is prepared to contest her all the way to court.
A spokeswoman for Sir Paul said he had no comment to make. Miss Mill's spokesman was not available for comment.
Meanwhile Sir Paul has told how he can get so emotional that he needs someone to hold his hand. The ex-Beatle makes the comment on Classic FM, where he has his debut as a guest presenter next Thursday.
Talking about his newly-released classical album Ecce Cor Meum he said: "there are some bits in it that are very emotional for me, that have memories of certain moments.
"So to have your family and friends around when I'm going through these sort of emotional moments, memories of certain things that happened during the making of Ecce, is very valuable, and just to have someone next to you to hold your hand because they know this is going to get you.
"It's good to have someone there who knows (that) you're going to need a little bit of emotional support during this."
He adds: "Inevitably moods and feelings and emotions find their way into your music, whether you like it or not.
"You can't help it. It's the nature of the beast. When I first started composing, one of the great things was if you were feeling a bit down or if you were angry or something you could go off into a corner with your guitar and just start playing something.
"It was almost like a therapy. You'd work through this feeling."

It's no wonder he put the block on their joint account at the rate she was going he would have ended up with no shirt on his back.

I am a bit confused, Heather allegedly said she gives 85% of her money to charity, perhaps she can give a bit less and arrange her security if that is a problem. Or exchange her personal trainer for a security guard.

This boring story will equal the Princess of Wales saga - still in print in 10 years time!

Yet she has money for endless shopping trips and fancy restaurants, like the one she displayed her divorce wish list. Maybe security should be higher on her list of priorites. I remember being so impressed with her on one of her Larry King interviews. She talked about how independent she is, pays for all her own things. I guess that would be another lie. She is shameful.
