Sir Alan loses his 'bags' of sugar

It is fair to say his face is not his fortune.

But Sir Alan Sugar has invested £6,000 in cosmetic surgery to get rid of bags under his eyes and lift his eyelids.

The 59-year-old electronics tycoon had the operation because of 'vision problems'.

A qualified pilot, he explained that droopy skin overhanging his eyelids was threatening to block his sight and stop him pursuing his hobby of flying Learjets.

He went under the knife in Florida, where he has a home. A friend said Sir Alan 'was recovering from another medical operation for a physical injury and decided that was an appropriate time to kill two birds with one stone'.

The friend added: 'He is not a vain man and certainly wasn't paranoid about his under-eye bags, but like most men he was being a bit cowardly about having eye surgery and put it off for months.

'It was only when he was unable to play his beloved tennis because of the separate injury that he decided to have it done.'
