A husky with its head trapped in a brick wall had to be saved by emergency services this afternoon, in a somewhat unusual rescue operation.

The six-month-old male husky, called Keano, had become trapped by his jaw in a garden in Whitchurch, Hampshire.

A neighbour alerted the dog's owner, who found that Keano's head was completely stuck in an ornamental brick wall, so she called Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service for help.

IT'S A DOGS LIFE: Keano had become trapped by his jaw in a brick wall

Rural safety officer Anton Phillips responded to the call and successfully extricated the puppy, using a bolster to chisel off the part of the wall that had trapped the dog's head.

Mr Phillips said: "This was quite an unusual call and the owner did a great job in keeping her pet as calm as possible before I got there.

"Without the owner's patience and ability to keep the dog quiet, this could have resulted in a much worse scenario for Keano," he said.

My compliments to the dogs owner, and the rescue worker that removed this curious pup from it's predicament... Dogs are like kids, if there is anyway to find a problem to get into they will... We have to be as vigilant with our pets as we are with our children... Good work!
