A woman fears she has been scarred for life after a vegetarian kiev exploded in her face.

Jessica Morgan, 28, was about to tuck into the £1.68 kiev when it blew up, spraying boiling hot liquid over her face and shoulder.

The marketing worker was treated in hospital after she suffered excruciating scalding to her right cheek and her lip swelled up.

Lethal: Vegetable kiev similar to the one which exploded

She still bears a scar in her shoulder - which she fears may be permanent.

"It hurt like hell," Jesica, from west London, told the Daily Mirror.

"Thank God it didn't go in my eye. I ran cold water over it for 10 minutes then went to A&E."

Jesscia had prepared the two Asda kievs according to the instructions, along with potatoes and vegetables, before she sat down for dinner.

"I dished up and it was a few minutes before I sat down at the table ready to eat. But before I could put the knife into it the kiev exploded.

"Hot liquid shot straight up over me. It happened so quickly. It was horrible and really shook me up."

A spokesman for Asda said it was an "isolated incident" and Jessica had been given a £5 gift voucher.

"We have apologised and are happy to do so again. Customers should always be careful when handling hot food."

A £5 voucher? What an insult. Jessica, head for the nearest lawyer, before three years expires from the date of this incident. Asda is (or should be) insured for this and should be ashamed of itself, attempting to fob you off with this paltry sum. I suspect you may well receive far in excess of the £5 pittance (certainly into four figures), possibly even more if the scar on your shoulder is permanent: you are only 28 and obviously want to wear sleeveless etc. garments. Don't let the corporate bully get away with it!

Maybe it was a Molotov Cocktail and not a Chicken Kiev.

£5 gift voucher. That should go a long way.

5 quid? God, it almost makes me want to ditch Waitrose and start shopping at Asda...

These Kievs are dangerous. I got seriously burnt on the side of my mouth eating a mini turkey kiev and refuse to eat them now. They taste nice though!
