George Michael lookalike John Kerr claims he was booked for a publicity stunt at the central London club

A nightclub boss is being sued for throwing a George Michael lookalike out of his club after saying he looked nothing like the star.

John Kerr, who went under the knife to look more like the ex-Wham! singer, claims he was booked for a publicity stunt to fool partygoers into thinking the star was in the central London nightclub.

His agent Susan Scott said the stunt backfired because the Hey Jo club did not organise the event properly.

Ms Scott said they then accused Kerr of looking nothing like George Michael.

But businessman Dave West, who owns the Hey Jo club in Jermyn Street, said he never booked Kerr. And he said: "If he looks like George Michael then I'm Donald Duck."

Ms Scott, director of Susan Scott Lookalikes, labelled Mr West's claims "ludicrous" and said Kerr was the best-known Michael lookalike in the country.

The pair appeared at Central London County Court to sue Mr West's company for the £560 they claim they are owed for the job last year.

District Judge Barry Lightman warned the two parties that the costs of the court case could run into thousands of pounds - far more than the figure involved - and urged them to come to an agreement.

However, Ms Scott said the action was to do with Mr Kerr's reputation rather than the money.

The hearing was adjourned.
