Ryanair cabin crew girls strip off for charity calendar
Last updated at 15:37pm on 16.11.07They have been trying to ditch their dubious reputation and work-hard play-hard image for decades.
But a dubious new calendar featuring scantily-clad Ryanair girls posing in the skimpiest of bikinis will do nothing to improve public perception of the trolley dolly.

The girls, who look more like page three pinups than cabin crew, pout and pose in various locations around an airport and on-board their planes.
First there's January pin-up Julia, showing off her ample assets in a barely-there white and black bikini coupled with a black hat.

Then there's Miss July Edita, reclining on a large wheel with a wrench in her hand and axel grease smeared over her bared torso.
The complement is joined by a selection of other Ryanair staff, all similarly attired in flesh-flashing bikini tops and bottoms.

The images are a long way from Ryanair's usual uniform, demure buttoned-up blue suits and high neck blouses.
And though the girls are probably guaranteed to get flight-deck temparatures soaring, some might say they are not the best advert for children's charity Angels Quest, which will receive proceeds from the calendar.

Despite the risque nature of some of the images, the company claims the publication is good fun in a worthwhile cause.
Eddie Wilson, of Ryanair, said: "Ryanair's gorgeous cabin crew are raising the cabin temperature with 2008's hottest calendar.

"Passengers will be able to bring a dozen of Europe's most stunning cabin crew home for just £5.
"This exclusive Ryanair charity calendar will be on board for a limited period only - so we urge passengers to buy the next time they fly."

The Girls of Ryanair Calendar 2008 will be available on board all flights from Saturday November 17, with money going to Angels Quest, which provides respite care for special needs children.

The female form is a beautiful thing, as the gals at Ryan Air prove. The Spanish goverment should be asking were are all the fellas of Ryan Air.
That is the politically correct response, remember it's a charity calendar.
Some people just don't care what day it is, as long as people are smiling with them. I bet the benificiaries of the charity will be thanking the Spanish government for bringing this to the attention of a world wide audiance.

Women pose in calendars, men pose in calendars. Sometimes for money, and sometimes for charity. It's not sexist, it's choice. If you like it, buy it. If you don't then, respect the model's choices, and let the public enjoy their work.

Lighten up Trevor, whats the problem - It spreads a bit of happiness and there is not enough of that.
Well done Ryanair!
- Jamie, Luton
It's a great idea! The women are beautiful, sexy and the photos are not demeaning in any way, I love them all!

Hey, I'm female and I'm all for it but where are the men? I'm pretty sure women make up half of Ryanair's customers.
What? Someone just catering for the male audience? What a surprise..

I suppose those who are worried about the "sexist" undertones would want these young, attractive women to tone down their good looks and maybe strive to look less so in future, just to suit the nay-sayers preferences. Perhaps they would like bikinis that they wear off-camera to be banned and for there to be a return to Victorian bathing dresses - the list is endless.
Attractive means that they attract attention - usually of the opposite sex. Its kinda natural. For one sex to want to be seen as attractive by the other is not demeaning. It is normal.
To do so for charity - and no, it is not a word worthy of a dismissive throw-away comment - IS a worthwhile cause. Don't foist your prudishness on others, for goodness sakes!

Nice, I have always had a thing for stewardesses! I think it's the uniform though, they should of had some photos in that?
- Brandon Thomas, London UK
Yet another sexist stunt, with plenty of bare flesh on display while women are still striving to be taken seriously in the workplace. What sort of behaviour can Ryanair staff expect from leery stag weekend passengers in future?
But hey - it's all for "charidee" so that's all right.
When is this country going to grow up?

Pretty Paddies - Seen but not heard!
- Frank, Home Counties, England
Well done girls!
Nice and tasteful, with bikinis, unlike some daily papers.
My only niggle is that I seldom see such pretty cabin staff on my flights!
- Paul Mckenzie, Leicester
Very good of this paper to publish so many of the monthly pictures. Means (a) I don't need to buy the calendar and (b) I am transferring my allegiance from BA to Ryanair forthwith!

Morning:
9°c

With a single dessert and just two glasses of wine our bill was kept in check - but the effort of doing so was not much fun
