Dumb and dumber: Muggers pose for CCTV camera after train attack on teen

Are there the most stupid muggers in Britain?

Minutes after attacking a teenager on a commuter train, these young lads shamelessly posed for CCTV footage.

Then, astonishingly, they tried to cover up their faces with their scarves and jumpers once they realised what they'd done.

You've been framed: Two of the muggers pulls faces for the train's security camera

The three youths had just mugged a 15-year-old for his mobile phone and iPod after jumping on him on the train to Guildford, Surrey.

They punched him repeatedly in the face before pinning him down and stealing his possessions.

The victim fled the train at Effingham Junction after the attack, which took place between Leatherhead and Effingham Junction around 4pm on 13 September.

Too late: The boys finally attempt to cover up

But the suspects remained on board and strutted in front of the train's security cameras, brazenly pulling faces and making themselves easily identifiable.

Police are hoping the public can help identify the attackers. Detective Constable Bronger of British Transport Police said the images were "amazingly clear".

The UK seems to be turning into a parody of A Clockwork Orange. You'd think with 45 years' warning this could have been averted. We seem to have turned the tide against extreme liberalism in the US, but at the expense of a disastrous swing toward extreme conservatism.

Oh well, I suppose life would be boring without the ups and downs.

The fact of the matter is even if they do arrest the stupid scumbags the courts will not punish them in a severe way so they will still be laughing as they leave court.

I suppose this one of the positive effects of the governments policy of dumbing down education in the UK. I expect Gordon Brown will hold this up in parliament in the next few weeks as a triumph of his coordinated education and crime policy to make teenagers so stupid that they do stuff like this when they commit a crime.
Isn't this also proof that we don't need id cards or a dna database, because if these two are representative of upcoming criminals all is not lost.

That one on the right looks like Dewey out of 'Malcolm in the middle'.

The parents will undoubtedly be proud.

The bright muggers are "high on drink", and when you're high on drink you don't know what you're doing or have any thoughts as to the consequences. So just why is it so surprising that they'd be poking their faces into the CCTV?! I'd be surprised if they didn't!

- Phil Jones, London UK

Amusing, and confirmation (as if it were needed) that there is no shortage of idiot chavs in this country.

- David, London, England

Dumb?

Perhaps they posed for the camera because they do not fear the punishment they might expect even if they are caught.

- Tim, London

I wouldn't call them stupid as the majority of people like this don't give a damn. They robbed someone in a public place in broad daylight. The chances of them getting caught and given a proper sentence instead of a slap on the hand are extremely slim. Once this Government bucks its act up then maybe people will be able to walk around in daylight without fear.
