Their husbands have teamed up to take on John McCain in the U.S. election.

Now Michelle Obama and Jill Biden aim to form their own double act, insisting they 'have chemistry'.

The two women had hardly spoken before Joe Biden was unveiled as Obama's No 2, but Mrs Biden said she and Mrs Obama have already hit it off.

'If you think those guys have chemistry, I think we have chemistry,' she said after hugging Michelle, 44, on stage at a rally in Springfield, Illinois.

Blonde and petite, the 57-year-old is an English teacher. She is also an active campaigner for breast cancer charities, having lost three close friends to the disease.

She and her 65-year-old husband married in 1977 after his first wife Neilia and baby daughter were killed in a car accident.

They have one daughter together, Ashley, and Mrs Biden is stepmother to her husband's adult sons, Joseph and Robert.

Five of their grandchildren, aged from two to 14, will join the Obamas' daughters Malia, ten, and Sasha, seven, on stage at the Democratic Convention in a show of family unity.

Hillary lost , get over it Ivy, If you are a democrat, now is the time to unite behind the party's nominee. That is what democracy is all about.

As a Hillary supporter, I'm still uncertain about Obama but I'm impressed with his chosen running mate, that he goes home every night to his family and that his wife chose to teach in a community college as opposed to a university.
