God knows if I'll have children

Julia Roberts has spoken of the joy of married life but says that whether she has children is in the lap of the gods.

Roberts, 35, married cameraman Danny Moder at her New Mexico ranch on 4 July last year.

She said the pair had a "very profound and positive relationship".

She added: "I could go on all day pontificating on the fabulousness of the good fortune of my marriage. But there's ultimately no point because people don't know us, so there is only so much you could understand."

Roberts refused to say if the couple were planning to have children. "I think children fall into the category of the will of heaven," she said.

"And I don't really have a timetable for the will of heaven." Roberts, now starring as a liberated teacher in the Sixties in Mona Lisa Smile, said acting for a living was "silly", but she had no plans to give it up and concentrate on producing.

"I like being an actor," she said. "It's fun. It's kind of silly. It's kind of like being in a Barbie dream house all the time. It's crazy. That's my job."

Roberts claimed the millions she earns and thousands of fans who scream her name at premieres have not left her head in the clouds.

"I do everything for myself because I'm good with it, and because I make my own mess so I clear it up," she said.
