Julio to be father at 87

Julio's father is to become a dad at 87

His son is renowned for making women swoon at his feet with his Latino looks, while his grandson has dated a string of beautiful women.

Clearly there's something in the genes, because now the patriarch of the family, Dr Julio Iglesias, has turned the tables on his son Julio and grandson Enrique - by confirming he is to be a father once again at the age of 87.

Two years after becoming a greatgrandfather, Dr Julio Iglesias is to give legendary Spanish crooner Julio, 60, a baby brother.

The child will also be an uncle to 28-year-old Enrique, the current singing sensation of the family.

Dr Iglesias revealed that he and his wife - 47 years his junior - are to be parents in the spring.

He told one magazine: 'We are very happy. Ronna, my wife, is five and a half months pregnant.'

Dr Iglesias, a gynaecologist who was once kidnapped by Basque terrorist group Eta, is expecting a son after his 40-year-old American wife had artificial insemination treatment.

Son Julio, who has made 250 records and had more hits in more languages than any other artist, said he was 'thrilled' at the news.

He added: 'Not many people get a new brother at my age. I think my father's fantastic. I hope I'm still having babies at 87.'

The former Real Madrid goalkeeper, who turned to music after a car crash left him unable to walk for almost two years, is a father of seven, the first three of which were delivered by his father.

His latest album, Divorce, follows a long line of classic Seventies hits such as To All the Girls I've Loved Before and Begin The Beguine.

Born in Orense in 1916 and descended from Spanish nobility, Dr Iglesias married Ronna in a secret ceremony after his first wife Maria de la Cueva - mother of Julio and his brother Carlos - died in 2002.

The doctor joins the ranks of famous octogenarian fathers including actor Anthony Quinn, who was 81 when he had his 13th and last child and the author Saul Bellow, who became a father at the age of 84.
