My London: Goldie
By Steve Fletcher Last updated at 00:00am on 14.06.01How long have you lived in London? About 12 years - I lived in New York before.
Where do you live and why? Outside London, in Bovingdon, a village near Hemel Hempstead - space for the dog and the missus.
If money were no object, where would you like to live in London? I'd build a beach around where I am, with a few palm trees, like Miami. That'd be ideal.
Are you a member of any club? The Groucho.
What was the last CD you bought and where did you buy it? I bought Kid A [Radiohead], at a petrol station in Southport when I was doing the Southport Weekender recently.
Do you have a local restaurant? I eat at The Ivy all the time, and I always have the same - liver and bacon. People think it's la-di-da there, but it's not.
Where would you like to spend a 'lost' weekend in London? In Barnes, down by the water. It seems like it's not London down there. I miss the water.
What keeps you awake at night? Myself - I'm either usually really up or I'm depressed, there's no grey area.
When did you last lose something valuable? A couple of years ago. I lost a Rolex diamond ring at Chelsea Football Ground at a soccer six-aside. It was worth about 15 grand.
What things would you abolish from London life? The traffic [Goldie owns three cars] - I'd have a traffic lane just for myself; traffic wardens; and then there's this woman who serves at the Tesco petrol station in Hemel Hempstead with the funny heels - she f***in' hates me with a vengeance. She'd have to go. I went in there the other day and said, 'Ooh, I love those high heels you've got on!'
What would you make compulsory for Londoners? Just a smile would do.
When did you last get drunk? At Attica the other night with two cronies, Moose and Mick. They always say, 'Don't worry Golds, we're not going to get drunk tonight. We've got to work tomorrow.' We got hammered...
Where is the sexiest place in London? Kew Gardens. Camden's quite sexy, too, there's something passionate about it.
What don't you leave London without? Petrol - from my close friend at Tesco.
What's the sleaziest thing you've ever done? Walking down Brewer Street trying not to look sleazy! Everyone's there thinking: 'There's Goldie. I wonder what shop he's looking in.' Trying not to look sleazy is sleazy.
When did you last lose your temper? The other day I smashed two Blockbuster videos. I was having a tantrum with my missus Sonjia. One of the videos was called Nasty Neighbour.
When did you last blow £500 and what was it on? The other night at Attica.
What's the first piece of advice you'd give a London tourist? Don't walk around with a map in your hand.
When was the last time you broke the law? [Switches off tape recorder]
If you were invisible for the day, where would you go in London and why? I'd like to go into a cake shop and stuff cakes into everyone's faces. Including that woman from Tesco.
What do you miss most when you're out of London? I miss going out with Noel Gallagher and getting pear-shaped. That, and Primrose Hill.
What makes you proud to be a Londoner? London is a place where if you want it, you can get it.
What makes you embarrassed to be a Londoner? I would say rudeness, but half the time I'm rude as well. I give as good as I get. It's really bad of me.
Have you ever been refused entry anywhere? Have I f***!
What is the most expensive meal you've had in London and who did you eat with? At a mate's birthday about four years ago. We went to Marco Pierre White's Oak Room. The bill was, like, £5,000.
Which shop in London could you not live without? Michael Kopelman's St?ssy.
What's your most memorable night out? Lots, but most recently my birthday and engagement party at Chinawhite.
What is your favourite view? From my mate's flat in Downey Tower in Adelaide Road [Primrose Hill], right over London.
What last made you cry? I cry a lot, I get angry with myself. I beat myself up a lot. I never really cried when I was a child, so I'm trying to catch up.
Where in London would you have your ashes scattered? Some in New York, some in Miami, some on Primrose Hill.
If your house were on fire which three things would you rescue? My missus, my dog and my canvases - I've been an artist for 15 years. I'm a better painter than I am an actor.
