Helena Morrissey, 41, the chief executive of an investment firm, presented Fitz, Florence, Tuppy, Millie, Clara, Octavia and Theo with their sister, Cecily, last week.
Mrs Morrissey, a fund manager with £32 billion of assets under her control, admitted she didn't plan to have so many children when she got married.
"We didn't envisage having eight children, but in fact it's easier now than when we had our first.
"I was 25 then and we were both working and runningto and from the nursery," she said.
During each maternity leave, Mrs Morrissey, who lives in Chelsea, keeps track of the markets and works from home on her PC.
"Although my maternity leaves are short, they are intense," she said.
"Then it's a gradual handover to my husband and the nanny."
She describes her daily routine, where a typical day begins at 5.30am, in Harpers & Queen.
It includes pitches to clients, transatlantic phone calls, trips to school plays, overnight dashes to Boston, sorting gym kit and laundry and picking up children from netball.
However, the school run and caring for the children during the day is done by the nanny or by her husband Richard, 43, a Buddhist monk who used to work in financial publishing.
She says she tries to have dinner every night with her children - now ranging in age from one week to 15 years.
Mrs Morrissey, a Cambridge graduate, started her career at Schroders in New York and became chief executive of Newton Investment Management, a London-based investment company, when she was 35.
