Bakers whose reputation rose to top

The Euphorium bakery in Islington is delighted with the results of its listing on www.welovelocal.com.

General manager Rupert Dunn said: "It has given us and, more importantly, our customers a voice. Feedback is vital for us and we are starting to get a little stream of reviews.

"Now anyone looking for a coffee and croissant in Islington will find us and that puts us on an equal footing with the big chains. It gives us a chance, tells people they will get quality in a little local shop.

"I suspect the marketing departments of the big conglomerates will have a look at the site if it takes off like Facebook."

Euphorium now has two branches, one in Upper Street, which opened six years ago, and the other in nearby Chapel Market. On the website, it is rated at an average of just less than five out of five.

One ecstatic reviewer says: "We used to live just near this bakery, so were well and truly filled up on their gorgeous range of bread and their delicious cakes.

"They have expanded now to offer a larger seating area so you can hang around with a coffee and sample their wares. Try the chocolate eclair with vanilla cream... drooooool."
