Balcony-fall boy's mother 'should take some of the blame for son's death' says spurned love rival

The bitter love rival of Natasha Hogan, whose son was killed when her husband John leapt from a hotel balcony, has shockingly claimed the grief-stricken mother was "partially to blame" for the tragedy.

Tracey Reed, whose former husband Richard married Natasha just days before her first husband's murder trial started, said she believes the couple were "emotionally involved" when the Hogans went on their fateful holiday in 2006.

Tracey said she believed that on the night of the death plunge, Natasha, 35, was planning to make a new life with Richard, it was reported today by the Daily Mirror.

She said: "On the night of the tragedy, I believe Natasha was ending her marriage to be with my husband.

"I would never ever wish the horror of what she has been through on anyone, but she has to take some blame for what happened. There are no winners in this story."

Natasha has strenuously denied the claims that she was involved with Richard while she was married to John, 33.

Tracey said: "Natasha claimed in court she wasn't having an affair with Richard but I've got problems with that because of what happened in Crete.

"Richard told me before Natasha went to Crete that he wanted a divorce. He wouldn't have done that if he didn't have someone else."

The 42-year-old added: "Even if they hadn't slept together, they were clearly having an inappropriate relationship. To me that is an affair. That is dishonest and an affair."

John, who scooped up his children and jumped from the balcony while the couple were having an argument, was cleared of murdering his son, but the court ordered that he undergo psychiatric treatment.

Amazingly, he and his two-year-old daughter Mia survived the 50ft fall from the fourth floor of the hotel in the Cretan resort of Ierapetra, Greece.

Tracey said she "didn't condone what he did for one moment".

"He will have to live with the fact he killed his son for the rest of his life," she said.

"John acted in an extreme way - he snapped.

"It's so hard for anyone to imagine how they would react to such devastating news.

"He has punished himself more than any court could."

The court ordered he be detained indefinitely in a secure mental unit until deemed safe for release - but experts say he may be released from a psychiatric ward within a year.

It is believed she plans to move to Australia with her daughter and new husband.
