Blair makes cameo in bizarre Bush holiday video - starring Barney the White House dog

Political commentators thought the Bush and Blair show had died when Tony Blair stepped down as British prime minister earlier this year.

But you can't keep a good friendship down, and now the new Middle East envoy has made a cameo appearance in the U.S. president's bizarre annual Christmas "comedy" video - starring Barney the White House dog

There he is!: Former PM Tony Blair makes a cameo appearance in the video, telling Barney that it's always good to see the Scots going well

The decidedly odd video details Barney's quest to become a junior park ranger, as George and Laura Bush pontificate on the beauty and importance of American's national parks - and park rangers.

First Barney must finish the mammoth job of decorating the White House for Christmas - but he dispenses of this with the efficiency attributed to his breed.

Then he is free to pursue what appears to be rapidly becoming an obsession for the small canine - to achieve his dream of becoming a junior park ranger.

There's nothing like a canine's dream sequence on the importance of park rangers featuring Tony Blair to get you into the festive mood.

Famed for his close relationship with the White House, which earned him the nickname "Bush's poodle", Blair tells Barney that as someone born in Scotland, it's good to see the Scots doing so well.

The president's wife, Laura Bush, also stressed the importance of national parks in the slightly bizarre video
