Bush Theatre may be planted in old library

The Bush Theatre is in talks about a new home to escape the power cuts and leaks.

The old library in Uxbridge Road has emerged as a possible venue for the theatre, whose lease above O'Neills on the Common runs out next year.

Theatre leaders presented a vision to Hammersmith and Fulham council.

The Bush staged a play at the old library in October.

A permanent move would need the consent of the Church of England, which owns the building.

Founded in 1972, The Bush launched writers such as Stephen Poliakoff. But it staged a season in half-darkness last year because the lights could not be turned on.
