Castaway dog lived on koalas

A DOG feared drowned when she was lost at sea survived by living on a desert island for four months.

Australian cattle dog Sophie Tucker swam five miles through shark-inhabited waters to an island off the Australian coast after being washed overboard on a family boat trip. The four-year-old blue heeler ate baby goats and koalas to stay alive.

She is now at home with her delighted owners David and Jan Griffith, after being discovered by wildlife park rangers, who thought she was wild, on St Bees Island off Queensland.

Mrs Griffith said today: "We wish she could talk. She has slotted back into life with us like you would not believe."
