Caught in the act (and posted on YouTube) the couple having sex on a Soho roof

Footage of a couple having sex on a Soho roof has become a hit on video website YouTube.

The mystery pair were caught in the throes of passion by cameramen filming a television commercial in Great Windmill Street this week.

A source at production firm MJV said: "When the couple finished everyone clapped. The pair just laughed and waved."

The film crew later sent the 30-second clip, showing a brunette and her lover on the roof of the Windmill Theatre, to their friends for a joke.

It was then uploaded onto YouTube where it won a fourstar rating after 11 minutes. Within 24-hours it had been viewed by thousands.

Under UK law sex in public places where other passers-by may be offended is illegal.

However, people who have sex in a location where they would not expect to be spied upon are unlikely to face prosecution.

The Windmill Theatre became notorious in the 1930s for displaying near-naked girls on stage. It is now the home of the "leading international" lapdancing club Windmill International.

The club boasts about 60 dancers performing full nude shows with personal services.
