CCTV appeal after teenager is murdered

Police investigating the murder of 16-year-old Shakilus Townsend today issued this CCTV image of a youth wanted for questioning in connection with the killing.

Shakilus was beaten with a baseball bat and stabbed repeatedly after allegedly being lured into an ambush by a teenage girl last August.

The teenager, known as Shaki by his family, was attacked by a mob in Beulah Crescent, Thornton Heath. Detectives believe the CCTV image is of a youth who was with the group shortly before the attack on the 405 bus at the Springfield stop in Northwood Road.

Det Insp Barney Ratcliffe said: "It is vitally important that anyone who recognises this person call the incident room immediately."
