Chelsea fan set to sue over 'beating by Met officers'

A CHELSEA football fan is planning to sue the Metropolitan Police after he suffered five broken ribs and a punctured lung during an alleged beating.

Cliff Auger, 48, was taken to hospital after six officers including some from the Met's Territorial Support Group allegedly pushed him to the ground and hit him as he tried to stop a police dog from biting his 16-year-old son.

Mr Auger and his son James were walking to their car after Chelsea's FA Cup match against QPR on 5 January at Stamford Bridge when the boy was bitten.

Mr Auger, a decorator, kicked the dog, before being tackled by officers wearing riot gear. The 48-year-old spent four days in Charing Cross hospital and six weeks off work after his arrest.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating the case, rated in the second-most serious category of complaints against the police.
