Comment: Cherie's story

Move over Alastair Campbell. The real story of New Labour is about to be told from one of the more opinionated insiders in Camp Blair: Cherie has signed a contract to write her memoirs. Mrs Blair may be stung by being unflatteringly commemorated in Robert Harris's new novel, or perhaps the real cost of living outside Downing Street. The large advance should also go some way towards paying the mortgage. From mud baths with Carole Caplin to accusing Gordon Brown of lying, the life and times of Cherie should make riveting reading. The only downside is the impact on her husband's own expensive recollections. Who needs Caesar's story when we've heard it all from Caesar's wife?
