Comment: Goodbye Jose

Chelsea is the poorer for the loss of its charismatic manager, Jose Mourinho, who has departed following disagreements with the club's owner, Roman Abramovich. In particular, he did not welcome the appointment of the former Israel coach Avram Grant, as director of football. But Mr Mourinho's departure is also London's loss. In a sport whose leading figures are often grey and inarticulate, Mr Mourinho was enormously egotistical, engaging and erratic. He added much to the colour and interest of the capital's sporting life - we shall miss him.
