Comment: tennis, anyone?

According to our survey of London's tennis courts today, there are good reasons why British players don't win at Wimbledon. For those who can't afford private club membership, the provision of public courts is patchy. According to the Tennis Foundation, one in 10 public tennis courts is in a poor state or derelict. Only 12 boroughs provide coaches. And since many state schools do not provide tennis facilities, this leaves would-be players at the mercy of their councils. The 2012 Olympics are meant to herald a renaissance in grassroots sport. How about starting with the rejuvenation of London's courts?
