Commuters invited to vote for best gadgets

The Evening Standard and T3 magazine are today launching a contest to find the ultimate commuter accessory.

The Best Commuter Gadget award will be presented at the T3 awards ceremony in October, recognising the innovation that makes daily travel more bearable.

Products that have been shortlisted include Apple's iPhone, noise-cancelling headphones from Sennheiser, and handheld games consoles from both Sony and Nintendo.

"Commuters are the perfect market for gadgets like music and video players," said Michael Brook, editor of T3.

"I commute for an hour a day and I just can't imagine getting through it without some form of gadget.

"It's incredibly important to be able to block out the outside world when you want - I think these gadgets make commuting in London bearable."

Readers can vote online for their favourite products from a shortlist of 10 finalists.

"It's really important to us that our readers help us choose the winners - they certainly don't pull any punches when it comes to separating the champions from the lightweights," said Mr Brook.

"Even though there are some truly iconic bits of tech in the line-up, there are often a few surprise winners on the night. We're all very interested to see who comes out on top this year."
