Diana wedding designer is hit by ‘£60k fraud’

Royal wedding-dress designer David Emanuel was the victim of a £60,000 cheque fraud, a court heard today.

Emanuel, who designed Princess Diana's wedding dress, was sent a £107.28 rebate from Customs and Excise. The cheque was stolen and given to alleged fraudster Huseyin Bekem, Cardiff crown court heard.

Bekem is accused of trying to cash the cheque after the amount was altered to £60,000.

Investigators do not know how Bekem, 41, got the cheque or how the amount was changed. He denies fraud and attempted money laundering. The trial continues.
