Didier plots final revenge on yobs
07 December 2007
The Ivory Coast international was hit by a cigarette lighter thrown from the home end near the end of the 1-1 draw, which secured Tottenham's place in the knock-out phase.
Coins were also thrown toward Zokora and Michael Dawson, while goalkeeper Paul Robinson handed a metre-long iron bar to the fourth official after it had landed near him.
UEFA will investigate the incident and Anderlecht could be thrown out of the competition, having been fined £8,302 for a similar incident in a Champions League qualifier this season. Their fans also caused trouble in the UEFA Cup first-round at Rapid Vienna.
But Zokora feels the best way to punish them would be for Spurs and Anderlecht to meet in the final next May and for his side to win. He said: "It would be great to face them in the final and get some kind of revenge. It made me very angry.
"I know why the fans acted like this because I played four years in Belgium for Genk and played against Anderlecht often. The fans hate me. I am still happy because we got the point we needed to go through."
Dawson was relieved to escape serious injury himself, having seen Zokora go off to receive treatment. He said: "Afew things were thrown, luckily enough they didn't hit me. Didier went off and I am not too sure what hit him. I could see some coins being thrown around me.
"If you get injured in the game, that is part of football but you don't expect that kind of thing to happen."
Spurs boss Juande Ramos said: "This is very bad for the players, but I did not see what happened. We have to be left in peace on the pitch and you can't have objects thrown."
Midfielder Zokorawas impressive at centre-half. His partner at the back, Dawson, gifted the home side the lead when he allowed a cross in the 68th minute to go past him and Bart Goor fired home. Dimitar Berbatov equalised with a penalty three minutes later after Jermaine Jenas was fouled.
