Family baffled by suicide of Rosie, 18

The parents of an 18-year-old girl who threw herself under a Tube train say they are baffled as to why she did it.

Rosie Smith jumped from a platform at Wanstead stat ion at 11.45pm on Friday.

She had recently passed A-levels in business studies, PE and general studies and had said she wanted to join the police force. She was described as "happy and bubbly" by friends.

Her father Paul said from his Forest Gate home: "There were no issues with a boyfriend. She'd just come back from holiday in Crete."

A note left outside the station by a friend read: "I thought I knew you but obviously not well enough. You should have come to me."

Rosie's sister Olivia, 13, left a tribute which said: "I can't find the words to explain how much I loved you. Your smile kept me going."

Olivia and brother, Joe, 21, have set up a Facebook site in memory of their sister.
