Father and 14-year-old son stab man to death in pub brawl

A father and his 14-year-old son were both convicted at the Old Bailey today of stabbing a man to death and knifing two others men.
For the first time the young teenager can be named as Harry Farrant after a senior judge ruled he should be identified in the public interest.
Farrant, a burly youth looking almost twice his age, had gone to the East London pubs with his father, 39-year-old Jason Michael.
Farrant had been placed with his father by Kensington and Chelsea social services and told he could not live with his mother.
The pair had moved from Notting Hill to Barking last December before the murder in April.
They were armed and attacked Daniel Leahy in the Victoria pub in Barking in April this year.
Michael and the victim had previously been involved in a heated row which the boy had joined in.
Mr Leahy, 45, was stabbed through the heart with such force the knife was embedded 20cms up to the hilt and was still in his body when the emergency servicers arrived.
He was also stabbed three times in the back with what could have ben a second knife, the court heard.
As Mr Leahy fought for his life David Murphy tried to intervene to save him but was stabbed himself.
Weeks earlier Michael and Farrant had attacked Lee Lumb in the nearby Captain Cook pub run by the victim's father.
He was stabbed four times in the neck and shoulders.
Michael and Farrant, both of Barking, were each found guilty of murder and two counts of wounding with intent.
Michael has criminal convictions dating back to 1986 for stealing cars, drink driving and assault.
Farant has two previous convictions for going equipped for theft and stealing a car.
Michael will be sentenced to life imprisonment and his son to detention at Her Majesty's pleasure next month by the Common Serjeant of London Brian Barker QC.
After the verdicts the judge lifted the legal anonymity which had covered Farrant's identity because of his young age "in the public interest."
