Fourth Plinth 'more theatre than sculpture'

Antony Gormley's One And Other sees the plinth occupied by members of the public for one hour at a time all day and all night for 100 days.

Nicholas Penny, director of the National Gallery, which overlooks the plinth in London, said he would leave judgment on the work to theatre critics.

"It does strike me as a historian of sculpture to have more to do with theatre than to do with sculpture," he said.

"Therefore I leave it to theatre critics to decide how well they feel it's gone.

"I have seen one or two of the performances - or non-performances."
