Gang forces early closing at takeaway

In one year, police attended 71 incidents — including attacks, intimidation, theft and criminal damage — at the Chicken Cottage in Ladbroke Grove.
Kensington and Chelsea council this week revoked the café's late licence in a bid to curb a gang of teenagers dubbed the Chicken Cottage Crew.
Priscilla Frazer, of the council's licensing committee, hailed the "landmark" decision. She said: "This case sends a clear message to other late-night establishments that they can't sit back and let their premises become a magnet for crime and disorder."
A Chicken Cottage employee, speaking on behalf of the licence-holder Nik Niazi, said the café was a victim of its own success.
He said: "We do not cause any problems for anybody. It is not our problem.
"We are open and our food is good and that is why groups come to buy food here."
The takeaway must now close by 11pm every night.
