Brave: Katy, 12, has called for an end to violence on the streets after her father Nick Baty was beaten to death last month as he tried to help an injured youth
The schoolgirl said: "Things like this just ruin families. This could've happened to anyone. It's just shocking. My dad has been so brave all his life and he always tries to help people.
"I just want everyone to know how proud I am of him. He's always been amazing."
Mr Baty was a keen surfer and was attacked last month as he left a gym in Brackla, Bridgend, south Wales on the way home from a friend's funeral.
As he crossed a car park he came across the youth, who is believed to have been a victim of an assault.
As Mr Baty tended to him, another young man, believed to be a friend of the unconscious youth turned on him and left him for dead.

Happy times: Nick Baty with his daugther Katy. He died in hospital after never regaining consciousness
He was in a coma for a month but died in hospital after never regaining consciousness.
His only daughter Katy, 12, kept a bedside vigil as he lay in a coma - and the family pleaded for an end to the spate of violent teenage street attacks.
Katy's mum Lyn, 47, who lived apart from Mr Baty, said the family would find it hard to ever forgive his attacker
She said: "I just wish he could have be taken into the hospital room along with Katy to see the devastation this has caused.
"We just keep asking: "Why him?".
"Katy can't understand why anyone would attack her dad when he was just trying to help."

Proud father: Nick Baty and Katy. She kept a bedside vigil as he lay in a coma
Mr Baty worked as a night maintenance supervisor at a printing press in Cardiff.
The family had been told by doctors at the Princess of Wales hospital in Bridgend that he would never recover from the coma.
Lyn said: "It's very difficult to explain these things to a young child. She cannot understand why anyone would attack her dad.
"But she was there with him before he died and she is trying what to sing at Nick's funeral. She just wants her dad to be proud of her.
"We want people to realise what effect this has on a family. It hurts everyone."
Nearby neighbour Ceri Davies, 23, said: "There's always kids hanging around but we've never had trouble like this before.
"It is very shocking and too horrible for words. I feel so sorry for this man's family - all he was doing was trying to help out."
A 17-year-old from Bridgend, South Wales, has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent on Mr Baty and has been remanded in custody.
Police yesterday said they would be in consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service to assess bringing a murder charge.
