Girl, 16, is killed in sledging accident

A 16-year-old girl died after crashing through a barbed wire fence on a sledge.

Francesca Anobile, of Sheffield, was injured with three other girls in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, yesterday when their sledge - which was made from a car roof -went through a barbed-wire fence and then smashed into another.

She died of head injuries after being airlifted to hospital. Emergency services described the other girls as "walking wounded".
