Glastonbury to hand out free toilet roll

Festivalgoers at Glastonbury will get a bum deal this year - organisers are issuing every one of them with a free toilet roll.

Each ticketholder will be provided with their own supply of recycled loo paper.

Event founder Michael Eavis, who owns the Glastonbury site, has agreed a deal with toilet tissue makers Nouvelle.

He said the move would make the festival more environmentally friendly.

"We're encouraging people to be as green as possible at this year's festival.

"The definitive example of our policy is our decision to invite Nouvelle on board as an official recycling partner to the festival, to give away free recycled toilet tissue," he said.

"They are providing hundreds of thousands of free loo rolls and our message is very simple: do not bring loo roll to the festival. There will be more than enough for everyone and, more importantly, it will be the right kind of loo roll."

This year's event takes place from June 22-24 and there will be a record 137,000 revellers.

Tickets sold out in less than two hours.

A further 40,000 festival workers on the site will also get their own loo paper.

The festival is held each year at Worth Farm in Pilton, Somerset.

Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, The Who, Kaiser Chiefs and Shirley Bassey are among this year's acts.
