Goodie bags of healthy food for models

In an attempt to improve health on the catwalk, models at one of the major venues are being given free nutritionally-balanced packedlunches designed by dieticians.
The initiative, being road-tested at the Royal Academy of Arts in Piccadilly, follows publication last week of the damning Model Health Inquiry report. Among its 14 recommendations were calls for designers to tackle the culture of eating disorders by providing " good quality" food and nutritional advice for models backstage.
The new goodie bags have been put together from fresh ingredients on the advice of a nutritionist accredited by the British Dietetic Association. They contain a range of food including salads, fruit and flapjacks. All the food is labelled with detailed nutrition information.
The bags are being provided at 17 shows by 32-year-old Rachel Gibson, a former fashion buyer who left the industry to open a café in Soho.
She said: "Our goodie bags are about educating the girls that eating doesn't mean getting fat, it means staying healthy, happy and beautiful."
