A senior Harrods executive is facing arrest after a 15-year-old girl claimed she was sexually assaulted at the department store.
The teenager contacted police with claims that she was fondled and forcibly 'French kissed' by the male executive who told her 'not to tell anyone'.
No one has been arrested but Scotland Yard confirmed that an allegation of sexual assault on a girl under 16 was being investigated by officers from Operation Sapphire, which investigates sexual offences.
The member of staff from Harrods has not been indentified
It is understood the girl and the executive - neither of whom can be named for legal reasons - met when she was shopping in the store in Knightsbridge with her mother.
He asked for her phone number and later invited her back to the shop.
The girl claimed in her statement to detectives that the assault began when the man started to rub her back, hugged her and fondled and grabbed her breasts.
It is alleged he then grabbed her again, kissed her full on the lips and attempted to force his tongue into her mouth.
She managed to escape but as she left the room her warned her 'not to tell anyone'.
The girl, accompanied by her mother, made a formal complaint at Notting Hill police station on May 30 when an official investigation was launched.
It is understood that detectives plan to interview members of staff as part of their inquiry.
A spokesman for Harrods said: 'We have had no notification from the police about this matter. We have received no complaint about any member of staff or any executive working at Harrods.'
Harrods was founded in 1834. The company now employs more than 5,000 across its retail, bank, estates and aviation divisions.
