Iceland savers get interim 30p in £1

BRITISH customers caught up in crisis-hit Iceland bank Landsbanki are to receive an initial payment of 30p for every £1 they have saved.

Administrators Deloitte said at least 455 British savers had a total of £38.7 million deposited with the group, which is in administration.

In all, 2,033 customers had £117.3 million saved. Deloitte said the speed of the payment was "unprecedented" and was approved by a court last night.
